TUMBLING
Tumbling skills are used in gymnastics, cheer, dance, parkour, pom, free running and many other sports and activities.
Ovations tumbling classes focus on building strong base skills while learning the proper technique for new ones. Strength, flexibility and technique are built through repetition, drills and spotting.
Our tumbling staff is highly skilled and trained to help your student achieve their individual goals.
OVATIONS TUMBLING PLACEMENT & EXPECTATIONS
Novice Tumbling
SHOULD ALREADY KNOW: Classroom and listening skills. No previous tumbling knowledge required.
SHOULD LEARN: Basic Positions, Rolls, Handstands, Cartwheels (standing & running), Round offs (standing & running),
Bridges, Balance, Coordination, Body Control
WEEKLY CLASS OBLECTIVE: Fun! Establish working knowledge of tumbling and vocabulary.
Keep moving through curriculum and skill lists while reviewing and perfecting skills.
Patterns! Learn class flow and how to follow multiple directions. Learn to work independently on drills and make corrections when given by the instructor.
Intermediate Tumbling
SHOULD ALREADY KNOW: Positions, Rolls, Handstands, Cartwheels, Round offs, Strong Bridge
SHOULD LEARN: Controlled Handstands, Handstand Forward Roll, Advanced cartwheels (alternating, switch, 1 handed), Backbend kick over, Back walk over, Back handspring, Front handspring, Front walkover,
WEEKLY CLASS OBLECTIVE: Progress! Safely encourage students to push themselves.
Minimize waiting and maximize development through drills and stations.
Keep moving through curriculum and skill lists while reviewing and perfecting previous skills.
Advanced Tumbling
SHOULD ALREADY KNOW: Kick overs, Walk overs, Back handspring, Front handspring, controlled handstand and handstand walks
SHOULD LEARN: RO BHS, Multiple BHS, Punch front, Tucks, Aerials, Twisting
WEEKLY CLASS OBLECTIVE: Perfection! Most of these students are competitive athletes and need technique to be a priority. Introduce and drill new skills while perfecting previous ones.
